One more thing. I feel like this article is complaining about something silly.

I used to work for Google, and the biggest thing that outside people complained about to me was that Google was coming up with too many new products all the time. Seriously! The biggest example of this was the number of people who would refuse to use a new Google product because they feared Google would cancel it.

If I were going to complain about something about Google (and there certainly are things to complain about) it would be that Google rewards employees far more for creating new products, and not enough for making those products truly usable and popular, or improving an existing product. Some of this seems to be changing, like with maps, so that’s good.

Finally, you could ask the exact same question of almost any big tech company right now. How long has it been since Apple really wowed you with a new product? The big news for them right now is them going back to an old-style keyboard! Or Microsoft? Or Autodesk? Or Samsung? Or Facebook? Or IBM? Or Oracle? Or Cisco? Or Intel?

As for Google, the products of theirs that have wowed me recently, besides Flutter (full disclosure, I worked on Flutter) include Google WiFi, Google Translate, and recent improvements to Google Home and Maps (I already mentioned that last one).
